Adcock & Shipley Model 1ES-M designed for types of work where manual hand feeds were better employed. A lever feed was provided to the table, and screw feed to the cross traverse and knee. Adcock & Shipley Model 1ES-J. This model was an automatic cycle machine, but designed for ease of setting up and therefore ideal for small-batch production runs.
The basic UK machine tended to be better specified with power feed / non power feed and later DRO options being the main choices for general workshop duties. Adcock-Shipley built machines were often supplied via Bridgeport to countries requiring UK style or sufficiently similar to UK style electrics so the relationship was very close.
lundi 3 novembre 2014. Hi to all, I have done a search and no results looking for a wiring diagram for this mill. Someone has pulled the powerfeed off to replace/repair and pulled all the wiring out, so i need a diagram to put it back together. I have found diagrams on other forums, but the reproduction is too poor to use.

Adcock Shipley 2s gearbox adventure. Ive got a Adcock Shipley 2s milling machine for a while. It hard to change gears and always get grinding. Seems like the gear changer wheel isnt synchronized well with the sproket positions inside the gearbox. Also the turtle/rabbit control for high/low speeds gave out and went past its positioning point.

Where would I find the serial number on a Adcock and Shipley Bridgeport mill. The number on the knee is 776 which does not relate to any lists. It has a 2 speed three phase motor, a 42" x 9" table and what looks like and after market variable speed auto feed to the table. Needs a bilt TLC but is an honest older type machine with V type ram. JR, Adcock & Shipley started making drilling, then milling machines in 1914. They only hooked up with Bridgeport in 1968, at which point they were bought by Textron (the owners of the Bridgeport name at the time).
