Also included was the Vertical milling head. I need to machine an arbor for this attachment - an easy, quick job. The new steel arbor for the vertical head is done! I machined the right end of the new shaft for the vertical milling head to. fit into a 3/4" #9 B&S collet rather than machining the taper on to the shaft.
This Millrite vertical milling machine is made by Powermatic and has a motor made by Leeson. The milling machine is 46 inches deep, 45 inches wide and 76 inches high. The Leeson motor is model C6T11FC3A . No. 110756-01. It runs at 1140 RPMs and is 1 hp and 60hz. This is a phase 3. I am told this unit is in working condition.

My US Burke Millrite model MVI vertical mill (resembles a Bridgeport, but 2/3 the size) came with a X-Axis power feed, an Asong AS-250. This unit never really worked correctly, and kept on blowing speed control pots out, as discussed in the thread "Repair of an Asong AS-250 X-axis power feed" in January 2010. This is a general problem with Asong.

A product of the U.S.-Burke Machine Tool Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio, the "Millrite" was designed as a low-cost competitor to the established Bridgeport and other high-class makes of turret milling machine, the Millrite was of essentially simple but strong construction and offered - on the basis of one main column - several alternative head, ram and table assemblies.
One gear is mounted on a tapered arbor that fits the mill spindle, and the rest of the housing rises up and clamps to the flange. One of these uses a shaft from a die grinder, so it holds 1/4 inch diameter shanks only. The small gear is on the shaft and the large one fits the mill spindle, so there's an overdrive ratio.

They assume the buyer or operator is familiar with the basics of a vertical mill, and the Millrite was about as basic as they come. All else you need is maintenance info and a parts list. Take a look at the manuals for a Bridgeport or a Tree or any other common mill, the manual is pretty sparse.
